DBTS Joins Partners for KidsSmall Business - Big MissionDid you know that child welfare agencies cannot use public funds to provide “extras” such as computers, special lessons, and other developmental activities to foster children? The District of Columbia Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA) is continually challenged to meet the need for goods, enrichment activities, and special events for foster children and their families. When DBTS was informed of the above and graciously asked to be on an innovative advisory group, Partners for Kids, through CFSA, we jumped at the opportunity! Through Partners for Kids, DBTS is able to make a positive difference by sharing creative ideas with other members from the business community, about how to generate goods and services for foster children and their families. The primary goal of Partners for Kids is to develop innovative ideas to serve District children – and that’s just what’s happening! From the first meeting alone, group members were able to brainstorm and work together to provide fully functional desktop computers to 17 District of Columbia college-bound foster children! DBTS was thrilled to provide the operating system and office software as well as installation services for the computers. New DBTS President Karla Gonzalez shared, “The District of Columbia is the location of our headquarters office and as a result, we are a part of the DC community and it is our privilege to support local foster children, our neighbors, through Partners for Kids.”
